Dear Family,
Sorry i couldn´t write yesterday…the Computers were down. I hope that
everything is going well for you all.
This past week has been interesting with 2 companions instead of 1, but being
with Hna Nuñez is always a blast so it´s been fun and we´re getting used to
it all. It´s like a fiesta at every person´s door. Who doesn´t want to party
with the Mormons right?
This past week was also Chile´s Independence day so that made it a bit hard
to work because EVERYTHING stopped, literally. We were the Only ones walking
in the street on the 18th. Officially the fiestas patrias (AKA-independence
day) is the 18th, but Chileans enjoy a good fiesta so they usually party 18,
19, and 20. We took the 18th off and went to a member´s house and had an
asado, which was VERY good. We also ate pajarritos, which is sweet bread
with merengue. I have officially eaten more empanadas than i can handle,
i´ve eaten SO MUCH this week it is a bit ridiculous. But i can´t complain,
i´ll just have to work it off later!
On Saturday there was a church activity where we placed games, ate
empanadas, and danced the cueca (they danced, i watched). As always it was
fun…it felt strangely like it should be the 4th of July because everything
was decked out in red, White and blue! That and the Chilean flag looks like
the Texan flag (with a small difference that the blue part is shorter) but i
quickly got used to saying Viva Chile! Besides, Hna Sullivan and i already
celebrated the 4th.
This week we meet another gringa! Really random. She´s a teenager from
Arizona that is here on a foreign Exchange program. It was Way weird
speaking English with someone other than Hna Fowler…hahah…i actually
couldn´t do it very well. I tried to talk about the Gospel and i just
butchered it. But i was able to give some advice on how to learn Spanish. Of
all places to run into another American the last place i would pick would be
the small town of Nacimiento!!! But i guess weirder things could happened.
Other than that it has been a pretty tranquil week. The days are now
beautiful but the nights are still a bit cold. I can´t beleive that we are
quickly entering summer, but i love the sun so i can´t complain. Well, i
hope that you guys are doing well. Remember that i love you all and you are
always in my prayers. Love ya,
Hermana Richardson
